			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most people think of their business assets in terms of things they own, such as buildings, office equipment or machinery. That’s how an accountant would measure your assets.</p>
<p>To me though, your assets are the things that you currently have in your environment that you could leverage in order to achieve your goals.</p>
<p>It’s important to list out what your assets are. This will help you to realize that the path to your vision, from where you currently are, starts right here.</p>
<p>Start by thinking of your assets more as resources than possessions.</p>
<p>Two of the <strong>best assets </strong>you can have in your business are <strong>people and products</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>People </strong><br />
The people that are assets for your business can be grouped into a few different categories.</p>
<p><strong>Your Team</strong><br />
If you have a team of people that work with you, they are a big asset. They are your resource for getting your business going, your products developed, your articles written, your website up and running. Joint venture partnerships are also an asset by helping to increase your exposure.</p>
<p><strong>Your Clients</strong><br />
Any clients that you already have are definitely a tremendous asset. If your vision is to double or triple your income next year, your existing clients are the people that will help you achieve that vision.</p>
<p>Don’t doubt this. If you think you don’t have enough clients or that they wouldn’t be interested or willing to pay as much as you want, those are excuses and obstacles. I guarantee that a percentage of people from your existing client list will be the same people who can help you achieve your revenue goals next year. Maybe not directly; maybe not even as clients. But they are excellent sources for referring business to you, and are also your best case studies and testimonials.</p>
<p>Your existing clients are, without doubt, one of your best assets.</p>
<p><strong>Prospects</strong><br />
Your prospect list is an asset. I am a big proponent of building a list, and have done this for years because it is such an asset in my own business, and will be in yours.</p>
<p>If you’re experiencing a lean period, you can always mail out to your list. Do a special offer to generate some income. Some of those prospects are bound to become existing clients, making them an even greater asset.</p>
<p><strong>Products </strong><br />
Products are an essential asset that can help you achieve your goals. If you don’t have any products yet, you may need to consider creating some. Like your team, they go a long way in generating business and revenue. Create a hard copy or downloadable recording that can serve as an independent, self-supporting source of revenue.</p>
<p>The path to your business vision starts with what is currently around you. There are most certainly opportunities and possibilities in your immediate environment that are tremendous assets to you, and could well be the starting point of this being a dream year for you.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What’s the worst that can happen?</p>
<p>This is a question that I encourage you to ask yourself. Too often, we don’t allow ourselves to do something because we’re worried about the sky falling in. When you feel that way, consider the worst case scenario.</p>
<p>For instance, perhaps you are uncomfortable making cold calls, but that is your primary way of generating business. As terrified as you may be to pick up the phone, think about the worst possible thing that could happen.</p>
<p>The prospect might shout at you or hang up on you. While that’s not pleasant, it certainly isn’t the end of the world. Because after that, it’s then over. The person isn’t going to start a Twitter campaign telling the world that you called him and he didn’t want to buy from you. Nothing else will happen.</p>
<p>Considering the worst case scenario will help you to learn how to take risks in your business. It will toughen you against the possibility of any little thing going wrong, and will give you the confidence to move forward in spite of that possibility.</p>
<p>The thought of losing money holds a lot of people back from taking risks or making changes. They are afraid their investment won’t pan out and they’ll look foolish for having lost money.</p>
<p>One thing I have personally learnt from considering the worst that could happen is that it’s impossible to lose money. If something doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would, don’t consider it as lost money. You just didn’t get the expected return on your investment, but you didn’t lose.</p>
<p>When this happens, view it as an educational experience. For example, a few months ago we had a mistake happen in my business that cost $20,000. While, yes, that is a lot of money, it was also a $20,000 education for me and the team members involved. That mistake will not be made again. We didn’t lose money; we learned a valuable lesson.</p>
<p>In fact, we couldn’t have bought that particular education. There isn’t a $20,000 seminar that could teach us what we really learned through that one mistake. We didn’t just learn it in theory; we learned it in the muscle, where it will always stay.</p>
<p>When you are considering making an investment or a change of some sort in your business, don’t set yourself up for disappointment. Face the worst case scenario head on. Once you realize what might go wrong, you can handle it. And, if it does, view it as a learning experience, not as a loss.</p>
<p>You will find yourself moving into areas of growth that you never thought possible.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Twitter is one of the most popular social networking platforms today, and is growing in popularity exponentially. More and more businesses are turning to Twitter to make connections with clients, other businesses and potential sales leads. The first step to successfully building your online presence via Twitter is to create a profile on Twitter. What’s the best way to create a profile that will get your business noticed on Twitter?</p>
<p><strong>Firstly,  What is Twitter?</strong><br />
Twitter is essentially a web platform where you can share 140-character snippets with the people who are interested in what you say. In order to see your 140-character updates, people must “Follow” you on Twitter. In order for you to see their updates, you must “Follow” them back. The people who follow you and read what you write are called “Followers,” and the people whose updates you can see you are said to be “Following.”</p>
<p><strong>Pick a Username that Conveys You And Your Business</strong><br />
When you create a profile on Twitter, pick a username that conveys you and your business. If your business has a short name, such as Bike Bandit, you might select BikeBandit as your username.  You can also sign up using your personal name.  Select whatever makes it easy for other Twitter users to find and follow you. If you have a long business name, such as Wintergreen Hospitality Services Incorporated, you might want to use just an identifying word from your business, such as Wintergreen. Pick a short username consistent with your business, and one that your users will be able to find easily.</p>
<p><strong>Keep Your Profile Consistent with Twitter</strong><br />
When you’re building your Twitter profile, keep it consistent with Twitter. Twitter only gives you 140 characters for your bio, so think of a few words or a phrase that summarizes your business. You can also provide a link to your website in your profile, so that gives you a chance to funnel your Twitter followers to a specific page that gives them more information about you. Think of your Twitter bio as a teaser, and point them to a page that will make them want to know more about you via your profile URL.<br />
<strong><br />
Using Icons and Backgrounds Effectively</strong><br />
You can upload a picture to represent your business on Twitter, but the size is limited. Some businesses prefer to use a logo; one that’s consistent with other branding; so it’s easy to identify the business. Many people prefer to use a personal photograph, though, because the purpose of Twitter is to connect with other people. A photograph is more humanizing, and makes you more accessible as a person.</p>
<p>You can also put up a background on your Twitter page that followers see when they come to your page. You can use this background for your company logo, or to show your product or important things from your company.</p>
<p>Building a successful Twitter profile is your first step in building a strong Twitter following for your business. Remember that people want to connect with a human, so try to humanize your profile as much as possible. Utilizing your profile effectively makes it easier for people to find you and understand what your business does. If you follow these easy tips, you’ll have a successful Twitter profile in no time!</p>

Without a purpose, you can end up with an advertising blitz campaign that saturates the market but doesn’t have any real direction.</p>
<p>And where does something without direction end up going? Nowhere.</p>
<p>We call this “spray-and-pray” marketing &#8211; advertising your business anywhere and everywhere, hoping that people will notice you, praying your hard work pays off.</p>
<p>You’ll do a ton of things because you think you need to be doing them. You’ll get on Facebook. You’ll start to Twitter. You might host a teleseminar or write some articles. Don’t get me wrong. These can all be very good leads for your business, but if you don’t know why you’re doing them, they are just busy, random activities. Unless they are <strong>consciously linked to your end point</strong>, they will simply exhaust you and your physical resources, like your energy and time. Some of them will exhaust your money as well because they cost money to apply.</p>
<p>Be more intentional with your marketing techniques to avoid becoming frustrated by the amount of time you’re spending on lead generation. Instead, your time will be well spent because your marketing is on purpose. What you really want is to be engaging with your clients in your specialty, and that is where intentional marketing will lead you.</p>
<p>But, if do you reach a point of being overwhelmed or disillusioned, where you’re putting out a lot of energy but aren’t getting the returns, don’t be discouraged.</p>
<p><strong>Do not give up.</strong> That would be a tremendous waste of your talent.</p>
<p>Part of my own purpose is to support and encourage you to pursue your own path. I know it’s easy to get discouraged if things haven’t been working out the way you’d imagined. Don’t blame yourself, and don’t assume that what you are offering has no value because you haven’t been able to get people to buy it. That would be a critical mistake.</p>
<p>What you are offering to clients absolutely does have value. You may just be missing one or two of pieces on how to promote it. It’s time to tweak your approach and get focused. A tweak or two could be all you need to make your approach more intentional, to turn things around and help you start attracting the clients you want.</p>
<p>You will probably find that you don’t need a major overhaul in your business, and that some of the approaches you are using do work quite well. It’s not about giving up on what you’re doing, throwing it all out, and saying that it was all a terrible waste of time. It’s not about throwing the baby out with the bathwater.</p>
<p>It’s about evaluating where you are and looking closely at where you want to be.</p>
<p>There are almost certainly pieces of what you’re doing that are working. But, that spray-and-pray part of marketing is just not smart marketing. And if you have been doing that, at least you’ve been taking action. If you look on the positive side, you’ve been doing something. It may not have been the most effective thing, but you are working, trying and doing the best you can.</p>
<p>Now you know that you need to be more deliberate, more purposeful. And you now know it’s time for you to address your business and your marketing with intent.</p>

Because that’s true, you may have reached a point when you need to start hiring people to help get things done. Here’s a strategy for hiring the right people for the tasks that get in the way of growing your business.</p>
<p>You may have been handling the details of your personal and professional lives on your own for so long that you don’t recognize when it’s time to start outsourcing. Let me give you an example of how outsourcing one routine task could free you to focus on building your business.</p>
<p>Let’s say your favorite dry cleaning firm is an hour round trip from your office. What could you be doing in that hour that creates more business, instead? When you multiply the time away from business tasks times your standard business fees, you begin to understand why delegating that kind of routine task can improve your bottom line.</p>
<p>Maybe your routine tasks are business related—answering phones, shuffling through email or making travel arrangements. Whatever it is that’s keeping you from actually focusing on finding new customers or creating products, it may be time to let someone else do it.</p>
<p>Your greatest need may be as simple as being able to rest once in awhile.  You maybe trapped in the cycle of working long hours, late into the night and every weekend. Wouldn’t it be more productive to work with a team and have them take over tasks that don’t require your personal attention, and actually balance work and rest?</p>
<p>Finding the right team to take over things that keep you distracted from work can make a huge difference. Decide what kind of help would do the most good right now. Do you need a personal assistant to handle dry cleaning pickup and delivery or a virtual assistant to schedule your newsletter?</p>
<p>For each business owner, it’s something different. But at some point, it isn’t optional if you want your business to grow. Insisting on doing everything yourself is a sure-fire way to keep your business small.</p>
<p>Finding skilled team members to lighten your load can surprise you in another way. You’re going to find there are things you simply aren’t suited for; for instance, you might slog through ironing your own clothes but why focus all that effort on something that can be outsourced to someone who does it well?</p>
<p>So consider where your team would do the most good. Decide what can be outsourced and then find people with the right skills, whether virtual or local. Remember, it doesn’t matter if the team member who posts articles to your website is in Australia or anywhere else in the world, so long as they do a great job and free you to do the things you need to do.</p>
<p>You want to outsource tasks to free up time, to grow your business or simply to get enough rest.  Start thinking about hiring a team to support you in your business. What kinds of things would make your life simpler, allow you to focus on your business or find some balance?</p>
<p>Once that’s clear in your mind, you’ll know who to look for and what kind of skills they need.  Then you’ll be on your way to building a great team. And that team will make all the difference in your life, your business and your peace of mind.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There’s little point in driving people to your website if you’re not able to capture their business once they get there. So, before you try to draw the crowd, make sure the fundamentals are in place.</p>
<p>There are three foundational things that you need in place before you try to get your business name in front of potential clients.</p>
<p><strong>•    A List Manager. </strong></p>
<p>Because I didn’t have a list manager when I first started, I had to manually send out the free report I had offered to a hundred people. You don’t want to do that. A list manager is your database &#8211; the place where you store all the names you’re going to collect – and it enables you to handle the “subscribes” and “unsubscribes” automatically. You don’t have to spend any time on it, or hire an assistant to do it.</p>
<p>Some examples of list managers are 1ShoppingCart.com, Total Business Cart, Constant Contact and  AWeber.</p>
<p><strong>•    An Ethical Bribe </strong></p>
<p>What are you offering that is interesting and enticing to the clients you want? You need to present something so tempting that people will be eager to hand over their name, their email address, possibly even their mailing address.</p>
<p>Consider using a free report, a teleseminar, or an audio. These can all work very well in helping to build your list. If you don’t think you have enough expertise, consider interviewing an expert, and use that as your giveaway.</p>
<p>Spend some time thinking about what that enticement is going to be. Make sure your offer is congruent with the people you want to attract. What will have those clients flocking to you?</p>
<p>For example, high-end marketing clients probably won’t be interested in a program titled “Marketing on a Shoestring.” Psychologically, you’re going to attract the cheapskates with that title, when what you really want are the money people. So make sure your pitch fits the people you’re pitching to.</p>
<p><strong>•    A Squeeze Page </strong></p>
<p>It used to be enough to have a box on your website that says, “Sign up here for our free newsletter.” These days, you will find that less than 10% of people who visit the page actually sign up.</p>
<p>A squeeze page is a standalone page that has one goal &#8211; to get people to join your list.</p>
<p>For example, use a squeeze page to promote a teleseminar. That page will contain the teleseminar topic, the details about the teleseminar, and a box where people can sign up. There is no navigation bar leading to another section of the website. There is no other information.</p>
<p>Here’s an example of one of my squeeze pages:<br />

<p>I’ve found that about 70% of visitors say yes, compared to the 10% who click on that box somewhere in the corner of your website. This is where you will capture the person’s details.</p>
<p>Once you have these fundamentals in place, you can begin to focus on the promotional things you need to drive traffic to your site.</p>
